50 Cent has declared he is down to fight Floyd Mayweather, who he has long-standing and fairly confusing beef with.

Cent discussed his intention to fight the former professional boxer during an interview on V-103’s The Morning Culture (via NME).

“I’d fight Floyd,” he said, before backtracking by revealing why he wouldn’t be able to.

“I don’t think I could make weight though… Or he’d just have to let me not get down to 150,” he said.

“I tried [to lose weight] I looked like a homeless person… I could make it down to probably, like 180.”

The pair’s feud appears to date all the way back to 2012 when business matters apparently got in the way of their friendship.

As reported by NME, it was speculated that Cent was supposed to become Mayweather’s promoter after obtaining a licence to promote fights.

Reportedly, Cent wanted to remove Mayweather’s manager and promoter Al Haymon from the equation without seeking permission.

It seems this is where the drama began, and the duo has continued to make jabs at each other in the media ever since.

A highlight of the petty beef was Cent publicly challenging Mayweather to “read one full page of a Harry Potter book” to raise money for charity.

50 Cent later claimed that Jimmy Kimmel was willing to have Mayweather as a guest on his show to complete the reading task.

“We don’t wanna put pressure on you,” Cent told Mayweather.

“We know you can’t pronounce those words in a Harry Potter book so we’re gonna let you read Cat In The Hat.”

Mayweather also infamously called out Cent over social media back in 2018, labelling him a “snitch”.

“You are jealous of any rapper, athlete or entertainer that’s hot or got something going on for themselves. You are a certified snitch and we got paperwork to prove it,” he said on Instagram at time.

“Your claim to fame was getting shot numerous times and living to tell it and you think that’s Gangster? Where at? You’re currently living in a fucking apartment in Jersey, you are always in somebody else’s business just to stay relevant,” he said.

Mayweather himself even recently admitted to not fully knowing what started the feud, revealing in 2020 that he got caught up in the back and forth.

“I guess [Cent] could’ve been upset that we didn’t come together and start doing [promotions] together,” he said.

“We could’ve stayed friends… I just thought we had a genuine friendship. That’s what I thought.”
