6ix9ine has been battling with the courts a lot recently, so much so that he insists he’s “struggling to make ends meet” as a result.
The rapper is the defendant in a civil lawsuit concerning a 2018 armed robbery. According to the plaintiffs, 6ix9ine – real name Daniel Hernandez – was present when his Trey Nine Bloods associates ambushed them in Manhattan. The ambush was allegedly due to 6ix9ine and his crew mistakenly believing the plaintiffs were affiliated with J. Princes’ Rap-A-Lot Records.
6ix9ine pleaded guilty as part of his deal with prosecutors during his racketeering trial, and now his life and career are unsurprisingly suffering. As reported by AllHipHop, he told the judge handling the case, Judge John P. Cronan, that he’s really up against it. “Right now, I am struggling to make ends meet,” he claimed in court documents. “I do not know if I will ever command the kind of advances I was paid before my arrest, and my career stalled.”
Adding to the rapper’s money woes, his record deal with TenThousand Projects reportedly expired last month, as did a merchandising deal. “I did receive large advances under the recording artist and merchandising agreements prior to my arrest,” he stated in the documents. “However, I do not receive any royalties under those agreements either since my royalty accounts remain unrecouped.”
6ix9ine also believes that any negative verdict against him could have serious repercussions. “If the Court awards the compensatory damages and punitive damages sought by the Plaintiffs at this inquest, it will surely bankrupt me in a way from which I will never recover to the permanent detriment and hardship of the family members who rely upon me,” he added.
