Surprise, Surprise. Yet another collaboration has landed on our desks. But what’s this? A group of artists that might actually work well together? Gasp.
Yes, it’s true. Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett’s musical and visual project Gorillaz have teamed up with former LCD Soundystem frontman James Murphy and one-half of Outkast Andre 3000 to produce a track titled ‘Do Ya Thing’.
The collaboration was commissioned by the guys who make those shoes we all love, Converse, and is scheduled to be unleashed worldwide on 23rd February. Unsurprisingly the trio have been teasing us over the last few days and have just dropped a ‘making of’ video featuring a snippet of the forthcoming single.
The video features some of the animated characters we’ve come to expect from Gorillaz but also features a hole in the ceiling, an axe stuck in the wall, as well as various hand painting and men in green body suits. To say we’re excited for this one is the understatement of the year.
After suffering through months bad match ups such as Lou Reed and Metallica, Insane Clown Posse and Jack White, Jimmy Barnes and some unknown house music DJ, and The Doors with Skrillex; could we finally have a collaboration on our hands that actually works?
