Disgruntled Radiohead fans who missed out on tickets may be granted a last minute reprieve as the promoters for the tour have indicated they will be releasing extra tickets closer to the tour dates from refunds and cancellations.

Spotted by FasterLouder, Chugg Entertainment posted on their official Facebook wall earlier today to respond to questions from annoyed fans who missed out on tickets.

“So, there’s been a lot of questions regarding when & how cancelled Radiohead tickets will be released back to sale,” a representative wrote. “These tickets (and any other potential new releases) won’t be made available for sale at this time.”

“We’ll be releasing them closer to the tour dates and any announcements in relation to this will appear on this page, as well as our website.”

The hugely anticipated tour, the first for Radiohead in nearly a decade, sold out in record time leaving a large amount of fans without tickets. Opportunistic ticket scalpers were also out in force snapping up large numbers of tickets and putting them up for auction on online sites such as eBay for prices of up to $400 a ticket.

Chugg Entertainment and official ticket outlets are working hard to catch the scalpers and cancel their transactions, which is where the the extra tickets will be coming from.

Furious at scalpers, promoter Michael Chugg called for the federal government last week to intervene and introduce new legislation that would curb the frowned upon practise. “The response to these Radiohead shows is a perfect example of the ongoing issues with ticket scalping and Chugg Entertainment hopes that the voices of impassioned Radiohead fans will be heard,” he said.

He also encouraged understandably frustrated fans to take their complaints to top say he “implores the forum to continue so that both the federal government and state governments will pay attention and introduce enforceable anti-scalping legislation throughout Australia.”
