Goldmine has been around for 20 years and we stock both new and secondhand LPs, CDs and DVDs. We stock predominantly rock and pop from 60s to today but also have a wide variety of other styles including jazz, blues, country, soul, comedy, soundtracks, world/folk music among others. We keep the prices very low and in a way that is our speciality. A bargain can always be found here.

What are you guys doing to celebrate Record Store Day
We are having a 10% off sale. There’s no entertainment (that’s BYO) but everything will have a further 10% off of our already cheap prices on the day. Plus a number of selected items will be discounted even more heavily.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Not counting The Muppet Show record that I asked my Mum to get for me when I was 7 years old, the first record I bought was a David Bowie 7” – Ashes to Ashes. The first album I bought was a Madness compilation Complete Madness.
What has been your best find on vinyl?
Once paid $5 for an Ersel Hickey 7” called In Lovers Land, I didn’t really know who he was but it looked interesting and it fetched a princely sum.
On a personal level there’s been a few for different reasons but not one that stands out. It’s always nice to come across a different version of an album that you didn’t know existed but of course this usually means you end up with about 5 different versions of the same album.
What is your most prized record?
I don’t think there’s one in particular. Complete collections are prized (such as every 7” & 12” single by The Smiths). But I suppose the first records that I bought and played to death when I was 10 years old are in many ways the more “prized” records. They are worth bugger all in a monetary sense but the likes of Ashes to Ashes by David Bowie and Young Parisians by Adam and The Ants mean more to me personally.
Even the aforementioned Muppet Show single is prized in some way.
What kind of records did you steal from parents/older siblings?
Nothing they had was worth stealing.
Where do you source the records you sell in the store?
The new LPs we have are imported from various overseas sources. The secondhand items come via the general public selling their unwanted records and CDs.
Is there a record you’ve been on the prowl for that you’re still hoping to find?
Sex Pistols ‘God Save the Queen 7”’ single on A&M would be a nice find but I don’t hold out much hope of that happening due to them not only being mega rare but also being way out of my price range.
What system do you listen to your vinyl on?
I have a mish-mash of components, the turntable is a Sanyo from 1970’s the Amp is a Sony from the 80s. Never been one to buy top-end equipment mainly due to being cash strapped probably due to buying records.
