My Left Boot formed in response to the atrocities against committed milk crates every day. Since then the band has taken their brand of psychedelically infused fuzz rock to grand new heights musically, whilst continuing to grab fans along the way.

The band has played at the most loved venues and festivals across the continent, sharing stages with countless amazing bands and it shows. The Boot’s live show is a formidable beast of a thing. Huge blues-soaked riffs and an old school thumpin’ rhythm section topped with what must be one of the most jaw dropping vocals in the land. Seriously!

My Left Boot formed back in 2005, are you still traveling with the original line up?

It’s still pretty much the original line up minus a few early bass player implosions. The current line up has been together for good while now though. 2005? Fuck.

Friday 23rd November, Low Sound Melbourne is taking place at Cherry Bar on Melbourne’s iconic AD/DC Lane. Who’s performing and what should shenanigans should we expect on the night?

It looks like a hideously fun situation! Bands on the night will be the stupidly awesome King Of The North, stoner legends Battle Axe Howlers and ourselves. Given the show will be at Cherry Bar, it’s hard to predict the exact nature of the shenanigans. But it’s fair to say no one will leave the place the same as the way they went in. A tribute to stoner can only be good.

You’re going to be launching ‘Summer Songs’ too? Who did you record the album with and where?

We recorded and mixed the album at great studio in Altona called Coloursound Recording Studio with Michael Summerton and Mat Robins. We’d had a few friends’ bands recommend the studio and it had coffee and chicken close by, so it was perfect. It proved to be such a great creative environment that we went in with 6 tracks written and came out with 9 recorded. The album was then mastered for vinyl and cd by Brain “Big Bass” Gardner (Queens of the Stone Age, Them Crooked Vultures, Top Gun Soundtrack) at Bernie Grundman in Los Angeles.

What’s your earliest memory of performing and who inspired you to start?

The very first gig I ever played with our band at the time Insomnia, was at the Beechworth Easter Show in circa 1993. We met with the travelling carnival folk and they agreed to let us perform. We played a set of “rough” Nirvana and Creedence covers as well as a few very heavy cartoon themes and made about $15 from folk in the crowd. We split the dough evenly after the set, which is still about the most I’ve been payed for a gig.

You must answer this question honestly. What and where was the first gig you went to?

John Williamson – Albury NSW

‘Fess up. What records have you stolen from your parent’s record collection and why?

All of them! The first one I stole off my Dad was the Beatles ‘Revolver’ record at a bout 11 years of age, before I even had my own turntable. I was so obsessed with it, particularly with the track ‘I’m Only Sleeping’, that I knocked it off and kept it hidden in my room. Since then I’ve gone back and pilfered the rest, even the Tijuana Brass.

What’s on heavy rotation on your iPod right now?

Soundgarden, TTTDC, Mark Of Cain & Broozer.

If you could curate your own festival, where would it be, who would be on the bill, how many people would you let in and what features would it have ?

A (world) touring festival of Melbourne’s incredible heavy rock scene with bands like: King Of The North, Battle Axe Howlers, Ancient Man, Sons of the Ionian Sea, Batpiss, Wicked City, TTTDC, Matt Sonic & The High Times, Lethal Binge, Sheriff, The Feel Goods, Don Fernando, Agonhymn, Citizen, The Wardens, Broozer, Sketch Wizard, Stiffy & The Creeps, Sun God Replica, Dead, Silence Dead Silence, Seedy Jeezus, HWCT, Curse Of Gardenia Lagoon, Mammoth Mammoth, Dukes of Deliciousness plus the others I forgot and the original cast of Police Rescue. First stop, Cherry Bar.

If you could put together a supergroup who would choose to be in your group and why?

Dave Mustaine and several cats.

What is your band’s music the best soundtrack for?

Assembling IKEA furniture underwater.
