Channelling some of the more inspired moments in the annals of folk, country, blues, psych-rock and pop, James Teague has forged a sound that is remarkably distinctive- a fact that has not gone unnoticed amidst the rapidly flourishing Perth music scene.

His sound is most easily recognised by intricate, dynamic arrangements, unpredictable songwriting and a soaring vocal tremolo. Listen a little closer and you’ll notice the fiercely dexterous fingerpicking and crafty, eloquent lyricism.

Last year, Teague self-released his debut album Lavender Prayers. The first single, ‘Strange Birds’ received significant airplay on Triple J and community radio, with an overwhelming response from presenters and punters alike.

The track also arrested the attention of folk icon Darren Hanlon, and was soon released on 7” vinyl, through his label Flippin’ Yeah Industries. By the end of the year, James was invited on Darren’s annual Christmas tour, winning hearts by the handful.

James Teague has tickled the ears of many in his hometown in recent times, growing a loyal fan base and sharing the stage with the likes of Bob Dylan, Grace Jones, Elvis Costello and Steve Kilbey.

With a solid album under his belt, this March/April, James will be hitting the road for his first full national tour, backed by his band of musical comrades and with a new single, the upbeat folk-rock live favourite, ‘Where Sorrow Is Forgotten (In The Great Divine)’.
