Singer/songwriter Doyle Perez has finally released a debut EP, Unconscious, under his moniker D At Sea.

Already in possession of a huge fan base that’s developed from his acoustic covers of hardcore songs, from the likes of Parkway Drive, The Amity Affliction, and Bring Me The Horizon, the Sunshine Coast acoustic act was recently signed to UNFD, and with that has unleashed five original tracks.

Following in the footsteps of the artists he’s covered, the original tracks that make up Unconscious divulge lessons of life and love, family and friends, injury, and cleansing.

Perez’ vocal ability is exceptional throughout, as is his ability to produce a number of diverse and appealing songs, all the while being an acoustic act.

Opener  ‘December’ was the first to be lifted from the EP, and understandably so. The delicate tune that changes between tempos is an enjoyable ode to a loved one.

Track two, ‘All Over’, gives its predecessor a fight for favourite, being another uplifting and catchy acoustic track, albeit abounding with saddening lyrics.

Title track ‘Unconscious’ is a pleasant summer time song, baring similarities to the playful sounds of Minnesota electro-pop group Owl City.

A country vibe is present during ‘Without You’ and closer ‘Take Me Home’ unfortunately ends the EP with a slow tempo and a slight sad note.

Each track certainly adds to Unconscious as a whole, but while they’re all appealing and likeable songs, the favourable numbers have certainly been placed at the beginning rather than towards the end.
