Self Is A Seed’s full length debut album may not have any seriously stand out sounds, but it is a piece that not only contains songs with  raw, loud and heavy rhythms, but also lyrics with feeling and choruses to inspire a crowd sing-along.

Featuring David Bleus with his smashing vocal and guitar skills, Andrew Haszard strumming the bass, Craig Smith also putting his guitar talents on display, and Nathan Tuffin banging the shit out of those drums, the opening track ‘Thought You Would’ kicks the record straight into gear, giving a taste of the awesome riffs and smashing drum beats that resonate throughout.

After the success of their EP Gratis, the band got into the studio with Aria Award winner producer Anton Hagop (Silvershair/Powderfinger), to capture the sound of a band on the rise.

Not only did they capture that, they managed to demonstrate their versatility when it comes to sound. From the offbeat rock approach in ‘Somnambulist’, to acoustic sounds in ‘Doctor’, a turn to the fast-paced in ‘R.F.I.D’, and even showcasing a pop sensibility rarely heard in the genre through Bleus’s vocals on ‘Siren’.

The band’s lyrical impact, with words to inspire, resonate and incite, come to play on the track ‘Memory Pit’.

The foursome will take you on a journey right up until the end with ‘At The Moment’, which finishes off the record with an epic unison of bashing drums and guitars.

An album of guitar-driven music, strong, inspirational vocals and solid rhythm sections, the Sydney siders have definitely delivered.
