Born in Gainesville, Florida in 1948 and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Charles Bradley is no stranger to hard times, having spent the better part of his childhood living on the streets, so the first single from the album Strictly Reserved For You, is an upbeat narrative which sets the tone of the album and sees Charles, ‘tired of city life’, grabbing his girl, jumping in a car and hitting the highway and getting away from it all.
