If the success of Melbourne prog-metal band Twelve Foot Ninja’s music video campaign, smashing the previous record set by Eskimo Joe in February this year, has taught us anything – it’s that crowdfunding is here to stay.
Whether it’s as simple as a band recording a new album, raising funds for musicians to head overseas to tour, or simply a great music-related initiative, the likes of Kickstarter, Pozible, Pledge, Zoshpit, and IndieGoGo are realising the previously lofty goals of artists the world over.
Pozible Launches Pozible Gigs
‘Pozible Gigs’ is an initiative designed to encourage event coordinators, venues, musicians and anyone who’s ever thought of throwing their own music show, big or small, to crowdfund and put on their own event.
What’s the incentive? $10,000 cold hard cash. Prizes are being offered across five categories including Most Funds Raised, Most Supporters, Pozible Pick, Fastest to Target and Most Social Media Shares.
Music is the second biggest category on Pozible with over $2.1 million having been raised for more than 550 projects to date and crowdfunding live music in particular has been a perfect fit for the platform.
As part of the crowdfunding campaigns it is expected people will offer tickets, drink vouchers, albums, merchandise and opportunities to meet the bands and will look to raise money for artist payments, venues, drinks and AV.
Submissions for ‘Pozible Gigs’ close 12 August. All participating crowdfunding campaigns will go live on the 26 August.
All the details can be seen at www.pozible.com/gigs.
New Album From The Trews
After over a decade of touring at home and around the world one thing has become abundantly clear– Trews’ fans are amongst the most loyal there are.
The Canadian rockers are hard at work on their new record and need a little help from those devoted lovers of their music to make it all a reality.
All pledgers will receive an mp3 of the album prior to it being released to the general public and anyone who pledges over $100 will receive a thank you in the album artwork. There are also some sillier prizes like a hockey match with the band, one of the members’ hats, and even a spot on their guestlist for life.
On top of all of the things pledgers all eligible for, the band have announced that once they make their goal, 5% of any additional money raised will be going to Cystic Fibrosis Canada (Peel & District Chapter).
