Ever since Bad//Dreems rode on into Adelaide’s music scene, they’ve been doing that little bit more than everyone else.

Their first few months as a band included a national tour with Children Collide, and since then they’ve played with Wavves, Drunk Mums, and Cut Off Your Hands.

So why is it that the self-proclaimed ‘dark-pop’ four-piece are the perfect complement to these guitar driven rock bands?  Simple – their ability to add a distinct flavour to grunge-rock is enough to win over almost everyone.

With the first listen of their latest release Badlands, it’s easy to note a link to a style of Australian rock that’s been long gone for a while. The unique crunch distortion that dates back to early AC/DC mixed with a guarantee that everything is made to be raw and unadulterated is rife within this EP.

From lighter songs such as “Chills” and “Too Old” to high energy tracks such as “Caroline”, there always remains an idea that nothing that adds to the song is hidden away – lead riffs are out in the open just as much as the punchy basslines. There’s also a sense of emotion underlying each track, usually revolving around a melancholy feelings.

Badlands absolutely shows promise that Adelaide’s Bad//Dreems are on the up, and with a huge local following already achieved within the first year, expect to see more of this name in the future.
