Fans are probably still basking in the afterglow from the recent visit from Bruce Springsteen and his legendary E Street Band when their Wrecking Ball World Tour checked in to Australia over Easter, marking a return from the Boss for the first time in over a decade.
It looks likes Springsteen diehards won’t have to wait as long again for a return visit with radio station Triple M leaking new dates for The Boss and band for February 2014, as Rolling Stone reports.
The post was swiftly taken down, but a Springsteen fan site managed to capture the images before they were removed, which are splayed with an image reading: “Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band back in 2014! Due To Massive Public Demand”.
It’s not yet confirmed if these dates are genuine or not, but according to the images the Bruce Springsteen tour kicks off 7th February 2014 in Western Australia at the new Perth Arena and rolling through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, The Hunter Valley, and Brisbane.
Should the Springsteen dates prove true, Perth and Adelaide fans will no doubt be jumping for joy as this year’s April visit from The Boss and The E Street Band failed to check into South Australia or the WA capital, with promoters Frontier Touring even having to issue a formal apology to the snubbed states. It’s not yet confirmed… but the Bruce Springsteen tour kicks off [at] Perth Arena and rolling through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, The Hunter Valley, and Brisbane.
Continuing the ‘too good to be true’ vibe is that one screen grab shows that a reformed Hunters And Collectors will be supporting Springsteen at “Melbourne only” at AAMI Park. Mushroom recently put together an all-star tribute album to the classic Aussie band, while the company’s boss Michael Gudinski was responsible for Hunters & Collectors’ last reunion show at the 2009 Sound Relief benefit concert in Melbourne – make of that what you will.
Gudinski’s Frontier Company presented Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s Wrecking Ball tour dates this past April, where they turned out marathon three-hour sets rich with the American music icon’s peerless songbook. It was also one of the biggest Australian tours of the year, raking in grosses of $25 million.

A quarter of that revenue came from the more than 34,000 ticket-holders that attended the two outdoor concerts at Hanging Rock. “We wanted to make it something special,” Gudinski said of the Springsteen shows, which featured support from Jimmy Barnes and The Rubens. “I have a real passion for Hanging Rock. I have huge dreams for more shows at that place. It’s beautiful.”
The Springsteen Hanging Rock shows marked the third and last of a deal with Macedon Ranges council, who have now approved a five-year deal to host more concerts at the site following the success of Springsteen and previous Frontier-presented shows from Leonard Cohen and Rod Stewart.
The Australian leg, which also featured Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello filling in for an absent Steve Van Zandt, also earned Frontier Touring and Springsteen a coveted Helpmann Award, with Michael Gudinski accepting the award at the recent ceremony.
The leaked Bruce Springsteen Australian Tour 2014 dates don’t include any Hanging Rock shows in their midst, but there are plenty of dates surrounding the Melbourne concert… assuming they’re all accurate of course. Frontier pre-sale tickets reportedly go on sale Wednesday 21st August.
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band’s live show, voted by Rolling Stone as the best in the world, continues through South America this September, which are billed as the final 2013 Wrecking Ball Tour Dates.
