Australia’s marijuana growers are rejoicing in news that Bristol Dubstep pioneers Massive Attack have announced an Antipodean tour this coming March. The dub collective, who originally began making music as the Wild Bunch with Tricky in the mid 1980s, will be bringing a number of guest vocalists and musicians – including long time collaborator Horace Andy and rising star Martina Topley-Bird – to flesh out the core remaining members 3D and Daddy G. They will be touring in support of their latest album Heligoland, which is far and above their best effort since 1998’s Mezzanine.
In announcing the dates, rumors have been swirling that this may be part of a festival of sorts in late March to replace the now defunct V-Festival. No further line-up details have been revealed yet but with Massive Attack headlining you can bet that Coppel will be aiming at the same late 20s – 30 something target market. Nothing like a bunch of reformed 80s and 90s indie stars to keep punters out of Ikea and skipping the home renovations for that particular weekend.
Tour Dates Are:

SYDNEY: Monday 15 March @ Opera House
CANBERRA: Friday 19 March @ Royal Theatre
MELBOURNE: Saturday 20 March @ Sidney Myer Music Bowl
