Quintessential Sydneysider and SMAC Award alumnus Guineafowl will add another jewel to his crown with forthcoming EP I Hope My City Loves Me Still.
Bursting forth in array of shimmering synth and guitars, first single ‘Little Death (Make It Rain)’ has already impacted his hometown with FBI adding the track immediately to rotation.Serving up dark intimacies on a platter of colourful, gleaming pop, new EP I Hope My City Loves Me Still is all at once vulnerable and bold; heartbreaking, yet uplifting. It’s a skill for which songsmith Sam Yeldham is renowned, and one so clearly displayed on his debut EP Hello Anxiety.
Despite the debut EP’s solo bedroom recording and producing, Guineafowl’s live shows were a crowded affair – seeing him joined by up to six people on stage, not to mention an adoring audience, recreating the solitary sounds he demoed in a Bondi apartment. In 2011, he zigzagged across Australia, playing more than 240 shows in under a year; all before taking out the highly-coveted SMAC Award for Best Sydney Song in 2011 with ‘In Our Circles’.
Thanks to Universal Music Australia we’re giving away copies of the album. Fill in the below to win!
