If you aren’t familiar with the musical video “re-creator” Mario Wienerroither, prepare to be force-fed. Crowning his YouTube channel “The Original Musicless Musicvideos”, Wienerroither’s concept is very basic yet entirely enticing.
Weinerrorither’s approach brings the viewer onto the recording set by simply stripping a music video of its intended track recording and inserting the scene’s actual surrounding sounds, creating an awkward, yet totally accurate and hilarious “real life” aesthetic.
As Gizmodo points out, the latest from the creative’s growing arsenal of classics is none other than The White Stripes with their arguably best clip, the frame-jumping ‘The Hardest Button To Button’.
Wienerroither’s audio dub for the video is seamless as Meg White oh so casually flips her hair in the wind, tapping her meandering dreams to the beat of chirping birds while Jack White trudges through grass finger picking a-ha’s ‘Take On Me’.
The White Stripes rework is one of many from the from an expansive list of clips from Wienerroither, including Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ where the dishevelled Cobain groans “hello/hello” as the chorusing gang of cheerleaders drown out the late frontman in jubilant cheers.
The recreator’s work stretches further, including edited film clips such as British heroes Jamiroquai and their ‘Virtual Insanity’, Queen’s all-time classic ‘I Want To Break Free’, The Prodigy’s ‘Firestarter’ and erm… Miley Cyrus’ ‘Wrecking Ball’.
