Melbourne punks I Am Duckeye are on the eve or releasing Commando Too a follow up to their 2013 debut release Husband. For this sophomore effort the boys turned to their fans with a Pozible campaign for support. The whole thing was a massive success with fans pledging the needed amount plus about 10% extra for good measure.

Commando is out June 6th via MGM, but before its official release you can stream the entire record now and check out the accompanying Matt Haycroft the band’s guitarist has put together. To celebrate the release of Commando Too the band will be hitting the road for a national tour.

Son Of A Riff

“This song addresses the loss of sweet riffs in recent years and how do you write a good song? Sadly, we don’t have the answer, so it’s a call to arms, “If you’re going to come to the party, you better bring something good.”

Grip It

“Initially this was to be about skateboarding, plain and simple. But considering Sam Haycroft (guitar) can’t stay focused on something for more than 30 seconds he used this as a forum to speak out against the hypocrisy of Christianity. And skateboarding.”

Hi Viz

“Our fuzzy pop love song. It tells the story of 2 young virgins who are making love in the dark for the 1st time and really struggling with what they’re meant to do, until one of them puts on a Hi Viz vest and leads the way.”

Duckeye Boogie

“This is inspired by a brilliant Melbourne band called Sheriff and by swing and jazz of the 1940s. The song is about dancing until you become incontinent.”

Windmills

“This song is about a mother not being able to control her two young rascal boys. She tries to guide them but its all in vain and is ultimately a lost cause. This song is autobiographical. Fun fact: This track has Sam’s 1st recorded guitar solos on it. He shreds!”

Tuesday, I Go The Bluesway

“We went through a phase of listening to a lot of Tom Waits and a lot of early blues, but being middle class and white, the only sad thing I had was the possibility of skin cancer. Fun Fact: The vocals were sung into a old bucket to create a natural reverb.”

I Need Rehab

“The verse is just dialogue from Caddyshack and the title is from a wasted girl I heard screaming at a party. This version is inspired by The Shaggs. Google them, you’ll be pleasantly disappointed.”

What Is Wrong With Me?

“Sean created a very PIL sounding piece and again Sam used this as a forum to speak out against religious intolerance to homosexuality. Seriously.”

Stoolbender

“One of Jules’ (bass) first riffs to be showcased and what a corker! This track starts the 2nd half of the album, the much darker half of the album. This song is about all the fun and silliness of taking hallucinogens and smoking pot. And putting things up the bottom of a gnome.”

Meth Is Death

“This is the flipside to taking drugs, as it can lead to very dark and destructive places. The chant “Meth is death, the smell of dick cheese on your breath!” is provided by Sydney’s best punk band The Berkshire Hunting Club.”

Agonyhymn

“(Ag-gon-nim) are a two piece Doom band from Melbourne. An assault on the senses, you don’t see Agonhymn, you experience Agonhymn. This is our attempt to fill one teaspoon of their brootalness.”

Headbutt

“Part one of the Mattrilogy. This song is about when Sam & I were little kids beating up a thief. Musically, its inspired by Converge, the world’s best hardcore band who we’re all big fans of.”

Ayy Ayy

“Part two of the Mattrilogy. It has nothing to do with being a pirate, but about some sound I supposedly made as a kid while Sam tried to sleep. I don’t care, I snore now and Sam still can’t sleep.”

Panchow

“– Part three of the Mattrilogy. You have to hear the story within the song, it’s quite in-depth to describe here. Musically, its like a cross between Isis and Iron Maiden, a truly epic saga and at 6 minutes its our longest song to date. (That is if you don’t include live versions of Punching Dicks that can last 10+!!!)”
