There’s no secret that our world is changing. Forget what the sceptics say, our entire planet is heating up. From melting ice-caps to extreme weather phenomenons, we don’t know if us homosapiens are the cause or not, but we can all do something to help our dying planet.
Byron Bay metalcore group In Hearts Wake keep no secrets when it comes to their passion for the environment and our planet; shooting down anyone that says otherwise.
Their new album Earthwalker saw them team with Carbon Neutral in a campaign to raise environmental awareness. They secured a massive 1379 pre-orders which in-turn saw the same amount of bio-diverse trees planted to help restore some of Australia’s landscape to its true grandeur.
If you’re a muso and looking for a few tips on how to encourage and practice minimal planetary damage, we’ve got just the thing for you. Having just wrapped up their 11 date national tour, the band have given us six easy tips that all musos can follow if they want to help take it easy on mother nature.
Tip 1: Encourage Digital Tickets
“Less printing by ticketing companies/ individuals means less pressure on the environment.”
Tip 2: Take A Tote Bag When Shopping
“This means you’re not using plastic bags every time you go shopping. Tote bags are better quality, fit more in them and don’t harm the environment.”
Tip 3: Get An Aluminium Drink Bottle
“Taking one of these bad boys with you and filling it up regularly is the way to go. Saves you money and keeps the environment free of plastic.”
Tip 4: Do Your Best To Avoid Maccas
“I see more McDonalds packaging littered through the streets than anything else. I know it’s the only thing open at 1am when you’re hungry after a gig, but do your best to buy sandwich ingredients or eat fruit.”
Tip 5: Shower Together
“Everyone needs to shower after playing a show and sweating it out. If you shower together you will save water because chances are you’ll want to get out ASAP!”
Tip 6: Don’t Be Afraid To Wear The Same Clothes
“Doing so means that you won’t have to wash 10-20 different shirts and jeans at the end of tour, thus saving water.”
