A King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Homecoming Australian Tour 2014 has been announced as the mighty septet lock in a huge run of national dates to celebrate the return from their maiden American voyage.
Their virgin US and Canada tour campaign saw King Gizzard playing Austin Psych Fest, Canadian Music Week, a 12-date run of the US East Coast, a June Residency at Baby’s Alright in Brooklyn and a festival appearance at Northside Festival.
Now back on home soil from their first-ever American tour, funded by the inaugural $50,000 Carlton Dry Global Music Grant, and their newest album in the final stages of production and prepped for release, the King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Australian Tour 2014 will see the ‘Gizzeranut’ rolling through Sydney, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, and Hyden.
They’re also looking to pull another multi-night stint in Melbourne, playing four consecutive nights at four venues they missed last time on their sold out five venue hometown run earlier this year in support of Oddments.

Support on the East Coast leg of the tour will be from The Murlocs (featuring King Gizzard’s Kenny Ambrose-Smith) who are still riding high from the release of their Loopholes album earlier this year. Over in WA, the dream bill will feature Mt Mountain, Aborted Tortoise and Ghetto Crystals.
King Gizzard’s first-ever American tour also found time to record at Brooklyn’s legendary Daptone studios and spent a month holed up in a Sky Lodge in the Catskill Mountains working on material for their fifth and sixth LPs. They then ‘pulled a Lou Reed‘, hosting an impromptu sale of instruments and studio gear (and vintage N64) online before departing the US for home.
Between these Australian tour dates, King Gizzard will also make a very quick trip across the sea to play their first ever show in China at the Modern Sky Festival on Sunday 31st August. Following the homecoming tour King Gizz will then head back to the US and Europe to support the release of their new album and for touring which will include shows with Mac DeMarco in New York and an appearance at the Iceland Airwaves Festival.
