Hailing from Oregon in the States, Blitzen Trapper have a name recalling bad suburban metal bands with better musical gear than song writing abilities. However, they’re far more redolent of beard sporting, flannelette shirt wearing alt-country Americana groups such as Band of Horses or Midlake. Wearing their Neil Young and Bob Dylan influences on their sleeve, and even capturing a smattering of the best of Fleetwood Mac in their latest album offering, Destroyer of the Void, this is the album that should see the band break through. It also confirms label Sub Pop’s resurrection as one of the most important labels in the world.
