Tone Deaf gets very excited when we hear of any action from the patron saint of New Jersey, Mr Bruce Springsteen. So the news that he’s re-recorded parts of and is about to release a new edition of classic 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town has us salivating round Tone Deaf HQ.

According to his long time sidekick in the E-Street Band and also a starring actor in The Sopranos, Steven Van Zandt, The Boss is re-recordingseveral vocal tracks and will tweak with the original mix. “We put 10 or so outtakes on the [1998] Tracks box set and we [have since] found 10 more,” the legendary guitarist told Rolling Stone “I’m not sure how many we’ll put on [the Darkness reissue]. We’ll go back and [Bruce] might finish a lyric on one or two, or finish a harmony on one or two.”

Darkness… infamously included a track called ‘Because The Night’ which Patti Smith re-wrote the lyrics for and then put out as a smash hit on her album Easter.
