Nine Inch Nails front man Trent Reznor has been signed up by David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en) to create the soundtrack for his new film The Social Network, a film about the founding of Facebook. Whilst this sounds like it could be a film about a few internet geeks sitting around eating Doritos and scratching their sedentary arses, the film was actually based on a book titled The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook, a Tale of Sex, Money, Genius, and Betrayal, by Ben Mezrich.

Reznor says “I’ve always loved David’s work but quite honestly I wondered what would draw him to tell that story. When I actually read the script and realised what he was up to, I said goodbye to that free time I had planned. Atticus Ross and I have been on a creative roll so I asked him if he wanted to work on this with me and we signed on. Months later, I’m happy to tell you we’re nearing the completion of this and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out.” The film opens in the US October 1st, with the soundtrack release preceding it by several weeks.
