A Grammy-award nominee has been arrested this week after beating down a female on stage at his show earlier this week.
Horrifying video footage has emerged of rapper Afroman who king-hit a female fan who was having a bit of a boogie on stage as he was trying to perform, as Billboard (via TMZ) reports.
The 40-year old hiphopper who rose to fame for his hit ‘Because I Got High’ in 2001 was playing in Biloxi, Mississippi Tuesday of this week, as footage shows, a female member of the audience jumped up to have a dance as Afroman played guitar, and without any warning, he swung around at lightning pace and punched the fan to the ground.
Reports have stated that the rapper continued to play despite the fact that the woman was bleeding and crying on the stage, and it wasn’t until the house lights came on that the performance was stopped.
It’s said that from here security rushed to the stage to help the woman and Afroman was escorted out of the venue, was arrested and later charged with assault.
Since the terrifying incident, the rapper has issued an apology statement both on his Facebook and later a video to TMZ, in which he insists that he thought the female was actually a man who had been heckling him from the side of the stage throughout his set.
According to Afroman, he had noticed that to girls had climbed onto the stage to which he asked them to leave, and he thought that the woman that he struck was actually the man who was allegedly hurling abuse at him from the side, acting almost out of fear of what this man would do.
In addition to this, he lists further excuses for his awful actions, blaming his troubles with anxiety, as well as some BS that he had to “walk like half a mile” to get to the show and that the gig was on earlier than he normally performs.
Afroman has apologised for his actions, attesting that he loves his fans and adores his meet-and-greets, and has stated that he knows his actions were “wrong”. Yes, they absolutely were.
You can see the footage of the incident below as well as Afroman’s apology, but we do warn, the former is not for the faint-hearted.
