A report from internet geek blog Techcrunch claims to have seen leaked internal figures from Myspace UK showing that its traffic dropped 50% in the 6 months to June 2010, from 10 million visitors to 5 million visitors. The electronic tumbleweeds floating down Myspace’s main street aren’t the only worries owner News Corporation Limited has with its apparent white elephant.
In a further sign that Rupert Murdoch’s $US580 million purchase of the site in 2005 was a waste of money, News Corp has been forced to deny that it’s about to hold a fire sale of the site. News Corp digital boss Jonathan Miller told reporters at a conference this week that such suggestions floating around the internet were ‘fabrications’ and “We are definitely not in any ongoing talks for a sale of MySpace.” According to Tone Deaf’s mole in News Ltd, Myspace is not discussed in internal meetings and Uncle Rupert just wishes the nasty blot it forms on his balance sheets would go away.
