Indie pin-ups Deerhunter have announced they’ll be releasing their fourth album, Halcyon Digest on September 28th. Released through 4AD, the album is being preceded with a fan involving internet marketing campaign that rivals the Arcade Fire for the clever use of the net to get fans involved and build the hype. Bradford Cox and his bandmates are promoting it in an old-skool DIY style campaign by urging fans to download an album poster at the band’s album website www.halcyondigest.com and then print it out, photocopy it, and stick it up on their favorite electricity pole, dunny door or poster pole. Fans who take a picture of their handiwork and send it to [email protected] will be sent an e-mail giving them the album’s first single as well as a non-album track in a few weeks.
