Axl Rose and his band of long suffering ring in session musos are heading Down Under for the first time since 2007 to play Sydney’s V8 Supercar Championship Series on December 4th at the self-billed Paradise City’s 50,000 capacity ANZ Stadium. The gig will mark the Sydney Telstra 500 race, the finale of the series. [Editor’s note: sorry, we don’t like to plug corporate brands like these without them paying us but it was impossible to get the sentence out without doing so]. Tickets to the gig are included as part of entry to the Saturday of the event, with tickets staring at $91.
Fun fact: last time the Axl Rose show toured Australia in 2007, a mole tells us that Axl demanded his personal security detail sneak him in to his Perth hotel through the kitchen goods entrance after their gig at the Burswood Dome. When they enquired why, an uptight Axl explained that it was so he didn’t get mobbed by fans outside the hotel entrance. The security company radioed ahead to check out the situation and were forced to tell a crestfallen Axl that there wasn’t a single fan there. Apparently they felt like they’d told a three year old Santa didn’t exist.
