When a musician is the face and brains behind one the biggest bands in the world, one would normally assume they’re set for life but apparently this is not the case for one artist who went solo.
In a recent interview with Loaded magazine, ex-Oasis vocalist and guitarist Noel Gallagher revealed some abysmal costs in moving from the titanic Britpop band into his own recording venture as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, as reported by NME.
Having officially split with Oasis in 2009, a band who have reached platinum selling status in multiple countries around the globe, Gallagher explained the hefty financial problems he faced in going it alone, “Everything I’ve done since I left Oasis has come from my own pocket.”

“You’ve got to pay for the tour, got to pay for the wages and you don’t really break even for about nine months. I don’t mean I lost money. I mean I lost a fucking shitload of money. It was a few million, like” he shockingly revealed.
He then spoke of the strain going solo put on his marriage, “I had to lie to Sara [MacDonald, wife] at first, and when I eventually did tell her, she freaked out – I mean FREAKED out”.
From there, Gallagher detailed how taxing it is hitting the open touring road, questioning whether he will perform live in the near future, “Maybe I’ll retire from playing live, it depends how long you can be arsed. Ten years from now I don’t think I’ll be getting on a bus – it’s undignified” before confirming “but I don’t think I’ll ever stop writing – as long as my brain and bones last out.”

Losing millions of pounds coupled with both the stress of running your own tour does seem insanely hectic, especially for an artist who would have become so privy to the finer things and having most things done for him during his tenure with Oasis, however Gallagher noted that he wouldn’t have changed a thing, “I did it because I felt like I could and I didn’t want to be signed to a record label, I wanted to do it myself.”
