Because this is exactly what everyone wants to read on a Monday, an English newspaper has published a piece to turn us all nasty shades of envious green: behold, the richest musicians of Britain and Ireland.
British publication The Sunday Times (via Hypebot) has released an article that displays not only the wealthiest musicians in both the UK and Ireland, but also a separate chart revealing the richest musos under the age of 30 – just to make it sting that little bit harder.
There’s no prize for guessing who tops the list, with Paul McCartney casually sitting on a small fortune of approximately £730 million, followed by theatre composer Andrew Lloyd-Webber with £650 million whilst U2 collectively wield £431 million, Elton John comfortably with £270m as the movin’ and shakin’ Mick Jagger closes-out the fifth spot with £225 million.

Interestingly, of the artists included within the list, the wealthiest lady is Enya, who charts in at #25 with £90 million, and oddly, our Kylie Minogue has peaked at #37 with £55 million.
The majority of the list is made up of rockers that hit it big in the ’60s and ’70s, so naturally they’ve been given plenty of time to have the cash flow into their bank accounts.
Flash-forward to the younger crew of lucrative musicians, once again no shockers as to has fullest bank account, the soulful Adele with a cool £50 million, second place is taken by the lads of One Direction who each have £25 million a piece, as pop’s favourite boy, Ed Sheeran, having £20 million to his name.
