It’s hard to believe that we’re already in May of 2015, and what’s even harder to believe is the amount of incredible music that has spilled from Aussie shores charming international hearts.
Reeling off just a short few, we’ve seen our favourite psych-rock trippers, Pond, release their strongest record to date and perform a never-ending list of overseas festivals, and that’s not to mention Courtney Barnett who basically took over the world with her stellar debut LP, Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, and as The Music highlights, it looks like more Australians are killing it.
Two Aussie bands have stormed various Billboard charts proving to be adored by the US with Melbourne futuristic soul outfit Hiatus Kayote working wonders with their sophomore release, Choose Your Weapon, whilst Byron Bay post-hardcore outfit, In Hearts Wake doing some serious damage with their LP, Skydancer.
Hiatus’ new album dropped at the beginning of May, and since has flooded Billboard’s charts, currently sitting at #127 on the Hottest 200, #70 in Album Sales, #11 Top Rap/Hiphop Albums, incredibly positioned at #3 for R&B Albums and *drum roll* #1 on the Heatseekers chart – hell yeah.

Meanwhile the heavier rockers from New South Wales have too made their way into the Heatseekers chart, comfortably sitting at #11 whilst soaring into the top ten of the Hard Rock category, looking at #9.
This is great news for both the hard-working Australian artists and exciting to see that once again our homegrown sounds are translating to foreign audiences. If you want to catch In Hearts Wake in the flesh, the band are just about to embark on their national Skydancer tour, find all tour info right here. Sadly for Aussie fans, Hiatus Kaiyote will be on the international road until the end of July.
There are still some exciting Australian albums left to drop in the latter half of 2015, with the highly anticipated third LP from Tame Impala now set for release Friday 17 July a shining example of this.
