It seems that wherever Sydney’s Thy Art Is Murder go, controversy seems to follow. The latest incident just so happens to involve one of the world’s largest corporations, Disney, who’ve banned the deathcore outfit from performing at their venues during an upcoming North American tour.
Taking to Facebook, the band issued an apology to fans, explaining that Disney have barred them from performing in “Anaheim on October 30th and Orlando Lake Buena Vista on November 23rd”. Both dates were scheduled to take place at House of Blues venues, a chain owned by Disney.
“We are very sorry to announce that due to the narrow minded, corporate censoring goons over at Disney, we will be unable to join Parkway Drive on their upcoming dates at Anaheim on October 30th and Orlando Lake Buena Vista on November 23rd,” the band write.
“We are aware we havent [sic] played Florida for quite some time now and we are itching to get back down there and play for you guys.” When asked by a curious fan why the ban was instated, the band replied that they “don’t know either“.
To thank fans for their support and “understanding”, the band have announced a limited run of reprinted ‘Banned In Disney’ T-shirts. “This is the first time they’ve been printed in over two years since we were last banned from playing a show on Disney grounds,” the band write.

Back in April Thy Art Is Murder ran afoul of distributors and retailers after circulating the uncensored artwork for their latest album, Holy War, which depicts a small child dressed in a hooded cloak, splattered with blood, with an explosive device strapped to their torso.
“Unfortunately after circulating our intended album cover around to the distributors and retailers, and after several meetings with the label and those we all work with, we were told we would have to cover the image, or choose a different cover,” the band wrote at the time.
The group followed up the cover with an incendiary music video for the LP’s title track, which featured numerous visual references to religious extremism, including a child-aged suicide bomber and a man dressed in the style of an Islamist militant performing a beheading.
