This coming Tuesday the 29th September Melborune’s Shebeen bandroom will play host to the launch of Living Music’s youth music compilation album Listen Up a very special record created with and by youths involved in the Juvenile Justice System.
Listen Up features musical recordings crafted within Youth Justice Centres in as Parkville Precinct, Malmsbury, Secure Welfare and also at Living Music Studios. The songs on this CD have been specifically handpicked by staff and mentors, working with talented individuals as young as fourteen, many of whom have experienced strong hardships in their life.
As part of Melbourne Fringe Festival, the launch of Listen Up is to demonstrate that no matter what your personal background is, music will always be a common and relatable space that everyone can meet on.
To celebrate the event, Living Music have kindly shared one of the tracks from the upcoming release, a gritty hip hop gem from the program’s mentor LochB. Check it out below and for more info on the event visit www.livingmusic.com.au or Living Music’s Facebook page.
