The former owners of Goodgod Small Club have announced the sale of the beloved Sydney live music venue has been finalised. Owner-operators Jimmy Sing and Hana Shimada have revealed the venue’s new name and announced the final gigs to take place under current management.

After five years of building the beloved Sydney music space into what it is today, Sing and Shimada took to Facebook back in September to announce that they would be moving onto other projects and putting Goodgod and its Danceteria up for sale.

They stated that they were on the lookout for “entrepreneurs with vision who believe they have the know-how, passion and resources to acquire the venue and evolve the legacy of this great place”. Speaking to Inthemix, Sing elaborated on the qualities Goodgod’s new owner must have.

“We don’t know who we’ll discover [but] we know lots of people have a passion and declared support for the fun and open-minded nightlife in Sydney that we represent, so we’d imagine it would be a no brainer that a new owner would be motivated to keep the music going,” he said.

In a farewell Facebook post, Sing and Shimada said the venue will soon be renamed Plan B Small Club and will continue to operate as a live music space and nightclub. The changes will take over on 12th December, with all announced shows going ahead as planned.

“Goodgod is nothing without all of you, so thank you for coming down night in, night out and making it such an inclusive and uplifting Small Club to both work and play in. Bg love and please stay tuned for GG’s next incarnations in the new year,” Sing and Shimada wrote.

Fans will have two opportunities to say goodbye to Goodgod in its classic incarnation. Goodgod & Good Night will take place Wednesday, 9th December, with a lineup featuring Twerps and more, while Goodgod & Goodbye kicks off Saturday, 12th December with a lineup announced soon.
