Perth based indie electronic producer and singer songwriter Angus Dawson has just dropped his new single ‘Battles’ and it’s an absolute stunner.
Combining serene ambient soundscapes, thoughtful songwriting and warm dulcet vocals, carried by a uptempo back beat, ‘Battles’ ebbs and flows with liquid precision for three and a half joyous minutes.
Angus explains the story behind this gorgeous track “90% of this track was laid out in a day, the remaining 10% has taken about a year to get it to a point where I’m happy with it, attesting to its name. ‘Battles’ is a little different to my previous releases, it edges towards a more upbeat, bouncy place than a reserved, contemplative one.
The subject matter deals with the everyday struggles that we go through in our own private worlds, however small or large. And, as much as a song that only has two lines can, the tune touches on the domestic violence problem that exists in Australia. Musically, ‘Battles’ is hypnotic, revealing, repetitive and almost psychedelic. ”
