As we’ve previously covered here at Tone Deaf, there is a wealth of talent to be discovered on good old triple j Unearthed, our national youth broadcaster’s inspired launch pad for independent Australian artists.
However, we couldn’t help but be charmed by one newly formed Illawarra outfit, who go by the simple name Jonah and Sandy. Their bio is similarly straightforward: “Jonah is 15 and Sandy is 10 and together they make songs at home.”
“Jonah makes the tunes and Sandy lays down the lyrics.” Yes, quite possibly the cutest band on triple j Unearthed, Jonah and Sandy’s first single, ‘Fishy Swishy’, has already garnered some glowing reviews from triple j bigwigs.
Linda Marigliano said of the track, “fish are smelly, fish are tasty, fish are nice to have with gravy…maybe”, while Dom Alessio adds, “At the end of the day, aren’t we all fishy swishy?” Check out the adorable track for yourself below.
