Briggs has made the transition from talented local emcee to talented local comedian (in addition to being a talented local emcee) so seamlessly you’d swear it was just something he always did.
The comedy game seems to be second nature to him, much like the far more frustrating game of having to call out racist BS in Australian society, which he’s also pretty skilled at.
Many readers will recall the saga that went down after he and fellow Aussie muso Thelma Plum called out a couple of bozos from Ballarat who thought dressing up in blackface was a good idea.
Most recently, Briggs appeared on The Weekly with Charlie Pickering to tackle that largest of elephants in the room – the Australian Constitution and the way it’s, well, racist.
Briggs’ appearance is not only funny, but educational. See, whilst we’re all aware our constitution doesn’t recognise Indigenous Australians, there’s some other tracts that are also problematic.
For example, as Briggs explains in the video below, its within the Australian Constitution to do really uncool things like barring people of certain racial backgrounds from voting. Watch the clip below and get schooled.
