Today's Like A Version Will Definitely Make The End Of Year CD

Sometimes you just get a feeling about a Like A Version, like you know it’s going to be remembered down the line, especially by the folks at triple j when the time comes to decide on the track list for their next end-of-year Like A Version compilation CD.

Vera Blue is a singer and producer who hails from Forbes, NSW, whom you may have heard pumping across the triple j airwaves with her sultry single ‘Hold’. Jack Garratt, meanwhile, is a UK-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who was likewise introduced to Aussie ears via triple j.

Earlier this morning, Vera covered Jack’s single ‘Breathe Life’ for Like A Version, a sterling rendition that replaced the upbeat instrumental of Jack’s original with brooding electronics reminiscent of Flume and Chet Faker.

One triple j-nurtured artist covering another and in spectacular fashion? We have a feeling you’ll be hearing more from this cover when the next Like A Version compilation comes out.

If you feel like seeing Vera do her thing live and in an intimate setting, she’s just announced a string of tour dates along the East Coast set to kick off this May. Dubbed the Fingertips Tour, the trek will see Vera celebrating the release of her new single ‘Settle’.
