Satellite
I know you are not supposed to pick a favourite child, but Satellite is very special to me. It was a stream of consciousness lyric that turned out to mean (especially to me) a whole bunch more than I thought at first, and it continues to evolve for me. It’s not just a love song.
Monster Lead Me Home
The pre chorus for me says it all ‘I don’t know what I was afraid of’. I always like to play this song first live because I think it sets a contagious tone for the rest of the show.
Stranger in a Room
This song was quick. I had been listening to the Jamie xx record and especially this song for about a month straight while writing the record and felt it played a role. I went in to the studio with Tobi Kuhn and I recorded vocals, guitar, electronic drums and keys in one day just to get it out of my system. I think it has an intimate sparkly tone that I really love.
Two Feet Off the Ground
This is the fun one. We always finish live sets with this one because it always gets me dancing.
It’s a don’t think follow your instincts kind of song. It’s about checking out of your head, because every once in a while i think it’s healthy to be out of your mind.
