After revealing that he’s been busy working on his next solo album, former Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning has finally returned with a free new single just in time for the upcoming US and Australian elections.
The song, entitled ‘Belly of the Beast’, is not an official single taken from Fanning’s forthcoming album, but has instead been released to inspire people to get out and make their voices heard this July.
The rousing acoustic anthem features fiery political lyrics, like, “There’s no seat at the table for the beggars at the feast / Or anybody unprepared to toe the line / The dogs of war devour doves and beggars at the feet“.
“There are federal elections coming up across the western world,” Fanning wrote in a statement. “We the electorate have some very important choices to consider. Do our ‘leaders’ challenge rather than confirm our prejudices? Vote and make your voice heard.”
