Clearly continuing their attempts to introduce some ghetto stylin’ into their Australian tours peddling white boy stadium rock, U2 are about to announce Jay-Z as the support for their Australian tour in December. After having a pre-award ceremony pest phase Kanye West as the support on their last tour, U2 are doing their best to bring mainstream rap to their MMM and Nova FM radio loving crowd. Admittedly you don’t get much bigger a hip hop star than Jay-Z, who has some cracking singles in his back catalogue, but West played to a rather disinterested stadium crowd on their last tour. It remains to be seen whether Jay-Z can win over the crowd as he did when he controversially headlined Glastonbury in 2008.
