It’s the moment all of Queensland has been dreading. The state’s lockout laws will take effect on 1st July, making Queensland the state with the harshest lockout laws in the country.
Statewide 2am lockouts will apply, with 3am lockouts in designated ‘Safe Night Out’ entertainment precincts, as well as restrictions placed on the sale of alcohol throughout the state.
From February 2017, a 1am lockout will take over and everyone is pretty much in agreement a Sydney-style dismantling of the nighttime economy will no doubt ensue from there.
That’s why The Brightside, Black Bear Lodge, The Foundry, and The Flying Cock — four of the most cherished live music venues in the Fortitude Valley — are raising a glass to the good old days.
The Big Kick On will kick off Thursday, 30th June. This “multi-venue music extravangaza” will feature a stacked lineup of bands having one last hurrah before the lockouts take effect.
Entry is free for all and you’ll be able to sign a petition to snuff the lockout laws when you enter the door. Check below for more details or head on over to the Facebook event page.
