One of the hardest parts of launching a music career is just getting your foot in the door, but GRID (Grass Roots Indie Development), a bold new artist development program, wants to make that part a little easier.

GRID aims to provide up-and-coming artists with essential skills and opportunities to help them build a sustainable music career that allows them to pursue their dream of making music in the long term.

GRID are putting the callout to artists of all styles and genres who live in Melbourne’s Outer South Eastern/Frankston/Mornington Peninsula region to apply for their upcoming first round development program.

Following the application process, which concludes 24th July, eight artists will be chosen to participate in a free, two-month intensive program which will encompass three essential stages.

Each chosen artist will receive two paid gigs (one show at the Pelly Bar in Frankston, one show at the Village Green in Mulgrave) and a full weekend of industry mentoring with music industry professionals.

Each lucky artists will get a two-hour, one-on-one meeting with each of the four mentors to “discuss the particulars of their careers devise action plans to move forward”. Each artist will also fully produce one song, with mixing and mastering included.

GRID is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria and run in partnership with ALH Group, Music Victoria, and El Perro Productions. For more information or to apply head to the official GRID website.
