Dune Rats have already unleashed one monster single on us this year, but according to drummer BC Michaels, they have at least one more up their sleeves before 2017 rolls around.
“I reckon we’ll have another song out this year, whether it’s with DZ or not, which will be sick. At least one more song out this year,” BC recently revealed in an interview with Music Feeds.
The band recently took to Instagram to proclaim that their new record is “finished and sick”, having previously revealed that they’d been busy writing with DZ Deathrays, with whom they are set to tour North America and Europe.
“We gave it a little crack and we’re going to be in each other’s pockets for a couple of months so it’ll be sick if we could churn something out with them,” BC said of the Dunies-DZ collab.
“I’d love to because then it’d give us something else to play with them on stage for this tour.” Asked who else he’d like to see Dune Rats collaborating with, BC had a few names in mind but wasn’t so sure.
“I dunno, but I’ve been listening to heaps of Frenzal Rhomb recently and doing something with them would be sick. Or actually, maybe it’d just be better to let them be Frenzal Rhomb and let us do our thing.”
“It’s kind of the same with Violent Soho,” the drummer continued, “it’d be sick to do something with them but I think it’d just be best for them to be them and us to do us. Maybe Gooch Palms.”
There’s no date yet for when we can expect the new Dunies record, but triple j’s 2016 Aussie Release Schedule claims the release will be an EP which will drop some time before the end of the year.
The EP was recorded with FIDLAR frontman Zac Carper, whom the band met when they toured North America together. Carper was behind the mixing board for the Dunies last single, ‘Bulls**t’.
Meanwhile, it’s been a big 12 months for the Dunies boys. Taking to Facebook recently, they revealed that they’ve signed a big-time publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music, which is set to net them a nice bundle of cash.
