Melbourne certainly has no shortage of electronic pop duos at the moment, but sitting in the upper echelons for the last couple of years have been ALTA, impressing both on record and live stages including Strawberry Fields, Paradise and, most recently, BIGSOUND.
Now signed to local Mushroom imprint Soothsayer, the pairing of vocalist Hannah Lesser and producer Julius Dowson are gearing up for the release of their anticipated third EP Sincere, and have just dropped its second single ‘Unbelievable’, a follow-up to the brilliant opening volley ‘Plans’.
Hannah’s sweetly croaky vox are twisted and layered over a bed of lush synth and skittering percussion, a warmer concoction than the sparse and metallic backing of ‘Plans’. Both are gleaming examples of the present state of Australia’s flourishing scene of electro-pop and neo-soul talent, and we’re very excited to hear more when the record drops on October 28.
