Pearl Jam have made the list of nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2017, along with other music legends like rapper Tupac Shakur, disco icons Chic, R&B superstar Janet Jackson, and proto-punk pioneers the MC5.

In order to be eligible for nomination, an artist or band must have released their first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This is the first time that Pearl Jam, who released their debut album in August 1991, have been eligible.

They join other first-time nominees like Bad Brains, Depeche Mode, Electric Light Orchestra, Jane’s Addiction, Joan Baez, Journey, and Steppenwolf, as well as past nominees like Chaka Khan, J Geils Band, Joe Tex, Kraftwerk, The Cars, The Zombies, and Yes.

This list of nominees will now be whittled down to a shortlist who will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. The final class of 2017 will be announced in December and an induction ceremony will be held at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in April.

Fans can now cast one vote per day via the official Rock Hall of Fame website as the Hall prepares to send out ballots to more than 800 voting body members, who are comprised of musicians, historians, and music industry figures.
