Park is the new EP from 22-year-old London singer-songwriter and producer Laurel, produced entirely on her own in her East London bedroom studio.

Having gained a lot of attention (not to mention millions of streams) with a string of singles released through her own label Theia, Park is her first record since signing to English independent label Counter Records, and Laurel has given us her thoughts on each of its tracks below.

The Park EP is out today through Counter Records via Inertia Music, and her debut album is set to follow in 2017 on a wave of hype.

‘Maybe Baby’

“For me, this song is about being scared of living an unfulfilled life. I wrote it when I was at a time when everything felt too content, a little too settled for someone of 22, and although I liked it I was starting to fret and panic: what if this is it, the rest of my life?”

‘Hurricane’

“This is about the type of lovers who always come back to each other, however tormented, however bad the argument or the problem they still seem to end up in each others arms.”

‘Too Far’

“Following on from hurricane this one is at that point when you’ve both taken it too far. Testing each other, hurting each other, there comes a point when even though you want to you can’t go back and both have to live with how you have treated each other, and at that point realise its gone past point of repair.”

‘Goodbye’

“‘Goodbye’ is a simple song trying to say goodbye to someone. It’s when you’re trying to remember someone and let them go at the same time in the words of Niyyirah Waheed.”
