In a very apt move for a company that has the tagline ‘Broadcast Yourself’, YouTube has launched a live streaming service as it seeks to compete with upstart companies such as Ustream and Justin.tv. Kicking off in the US last Sunday with several partners to stream several live programming blocks, with Young Hollywood streaming a live interview with skateboarder Tony Hawk as well as allowing users to post comments in real time. Although the content thus far is all professional, Youtube reckons that by offering open access, anyone with a webcam will be able to become a broadcaster!
