If you have the money, and the inclination, you could buy the ultimate pool room trophy, as a Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon gold plaque goes under the hammer tomorrow.
The trophy is a Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gold plaque, which denotes a million dollars’ worth of sales for a single album. It was awarded to Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright, who passed away in 2008. His second wife Franka Wright (to who, like all his wives, he left absolutely none of his £24m fortune) is selling the plaque, and has provided an authenticity letter which states: “I hope anyone that has any of Rick’s items enjoys them as much as I do.”
Bidding starts at US$20,000 but as the auctioneer website notes, Wright’s platinum plaque for The Wall sold for $40,000 in 2005, so that’s gotta be the very minimum we’re talking.
Check out the plaque below, and bid here.
