While King Gizz were sadly held from their first #1 album in their home country by the combined pop powers of Ed Sheeran and Lorde, they’ve had a breakthrough on the U.S. charts with new LP Murder of the Universe making a big splash.
As Billboard reports, not only did it land at #1 on the Heatseekers Albums Chart, but it also made it to #2 on the Vinyl Albums chart, falling one spot short of the #1 vinyl they nabbed with Flying Microtonal Banana.
The new record also hit #3 on the Tastemaker Albums Chart and #6 on the Independent Albums Chart, with respectable results across a range of others. The album landed at #106 on the overall album rankings, a hair behind the #94 it managed on debut in the U.K.
It’s another great result as the band continue to build their profile overseas, climbing further and further up the festival lineups as well as the charts. Hopefully they can go even higher when they drop their third album for the year, the decidedly-Aussie Sketches Of Brunswick East, in the next few months.
