We don’t have long to wait now for the next QOTSA album, Villains, set to drop on August 25. But with their set at Splendour in the Grass last week proving they’re still at the peak of their powers, we’re expecting big things.
Having already dropped a couple of tracks into their live sets, they’ve also been hitting us with a long, slow drip of new info, and the latest is this creepy new clip below that teases what the new tracks might sound like in delightfully cinematic fashion – in keeping with Josh Homme’s recent efforts scoring German film In The Fade, named after the QOTSA song of the same name.
From the eerie chant to the hint of horns at the very end, it’s another strange piece that flies in the face of the upbeat, “dancey” feel of first single ‘The Way You Used To Do’, making us think that the new album must have at least a couple of darker moments among its Mark Ronson-produced bangers.
The clip ends with a short quotation, “the ringing in my ears is from another life”, a sentiment we’re sure plenty of ageing rockers can relate to.
