In case you were getting a bit worried that The Shins were only going to be performing at a couple of lesser-known festivals when they hit up Australia in December, you can put your mind to rest, with the seasoned indie-rock group announcing a run of Aussie headline dates.
Having been announced for Berry’s Fairgrounds Festival a few weeks back, and more recently, Perth’s Fidelity Festival, The Shins have now beefed up their first Australian trip since 2012, adding a few extra dates that adoring fans can head along to.
Formed back in 1996 by James Mercer, The Shins have been one of the indie bands of the 21st century, with the group getting a serious fame boost thanks to the 2004 film Garden State. Now, after famously dissolving the group’s old lineup back in 2008, James Mercer has lined up a whole bunch of fresh musicians to accompany him to Australia to help celebrate the release of their fifth album, Heartworms.
In addition to their already announced Perth and Berry dates, The Shins are set to hit up Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney when they land in Australia in December.
Considering these are the first shows in five years for one of the world’s preeminent indie bands, tickets to these will sell like hotcakes, so make sure you get in quickly. But whatever you do, just make sure you don’t wear any unofficial merch when you head along to the gig.
